What Are the ‘Love on the Spectrum U.S.’ Stars Up to Now?

And by that we really mean, are Abbey and David still together?

Love may be patient and kind, but it’s also complicated, unpredictable and often elusive. Still, that doesn’t stop many people from trying to find it — even if it takes dozens of speed-dating sessions or a lifetime of looking for the right partner. In Love on the Spectrum U.S., a group of singles on the autism spectrum attempt to navigate the messy world of dating and relationships. Some of them are lucky enough to discover love, while others are left still searching for their special someone by the show’s end. We caught up with several of them to see what they’ve been up to since filming wrapped, if they have any updates on their dating life and their favorite moments from the show.

Steve, 63

How have you been since filming? I have been doing well living my life. I do miss the film crew — Cian, Sean and others. I feel as though the entire experience has stayed with me. I have been participating in more activities in my synagogue, which has been quite rewarding for me spiritually, emotionally and socially. I have been enjoying taking drives in my car to some of my favorite places. I also have been getting together with my friends and family as COVID’s intensity subsides.

How has your search for love been going? The search continues. I am putting some feelers out as well as some online chatting, although nothing serious as of yet. I am hopeful to meet someone who is meant for me.

Do you have any favorite moments from the show? Discovering the land behind the Japanese tea garden, which I didn’t realize was even there all these years! I noticed some great vantage points in the Golden Gate Heights area, which I liked sharing with my date along with great memories of my childhood. I also find myself rediscovering new places or pockets along the way and coming up with more ideas for future adventures with my date. That way, we can start making some brand-new memories in these areas.

Abbey, 23

How have you been since filming? Amazing!!!! It’s been so incredible. When I think about things now, it feels so romantic. I feel like a princess in my life!

What’s your relationship status since filming? I am in a relationship with David. He is my boyfriend, and he makes me comfortable! I see him often and we go to fun places. We like the same things, so it’s easy. Like, The Grove, the pier, and The Cheesecake Factory, of course, because we both like Oreo cookie cheesecake!

Any recent fun moments or dates with your partner? I have done so much with David!!! We hang out together, and we went to my favorite fair just last weekend. We went whale watching, too! My boyfriend is smart and funny, and he makes me laugh. I feel safe with him. In the future I want to go to Africa and see lions with him. We both love lions.

Dani, 26

How have you been since filming? I’ve been anxiously awaiting the release of the show! At the same time, I am a little nervous about how others will see me on television. I’m trying not to think too much about the release. Currently, I am not dating anyone, just focusing on work. It would be nice to find someone though.

How’s your search for love been going?  The search for love is still difficult. I am not giving up my search to find love. I don’t know if you were aware, but after the camera stopped rolling, that was when the real action began between me and the first date on the show. We did go out for a while, but it didn’t work out. However, I did learn all about setting boundaries from the very beginning. I did try to reach out to my second guy I dated. Again, it didn’t work out. So, yeah, I am single again and still looking for love.

Do you have any favorite moments from the show or from your dating life since the show? I really enjoyed the filming, because I was allowed to be myself, and everyone is so caring and nice and made it a pleasure to be part of the show. I was really comfortable around the crew. I didn’t feel any pressure to pretend to be anyone other than myself. As for the dating part, I enjoyed exploring different locations and meeting new potential love interests, especially from the speed dating experience. Yes, I would love to go speed dating again.

How have you been since filming? I have been doing very well since the filming for Love on the Spectrum finished. I am finding time to interact with my friends and have fun when I am not working.

How’s your search for love been going since filming? The woman whom I met through Love on the Spectrum did not feel any romantic feeling toward me, so I have continued my search for love, both on dating apps and at in-person speed-dating events. Thus far, I have not matched with any women, but I will never abandon my search, since finding love is of the greatest importance to me.

Do you have any favorite moments from the show? One of my favorite moments from the series was when we went to a medieval renaissance fair in New York, as I have been to other such fairs but not that one before, so it was nice to visit a new renaissance fair.
